I don't recall a moment in my life where I have not exercised my creative side through art. From sketching to teaching myself digital art by watching YouTube videos, I realized that my art could have an impact on other people. In 2021, I created Change Into Change, where I can combine my love for art and design with unconditional advocacy for environmental protection. Sustainability and creativity are the central values of our Change Into Change. Simply by assembling the graphic patches onto a T-shirt, you can create a million different shirt combinations with just one shirt! Through this product, we can all strive to reduce various consumptions of our natural resources.
I’m super appreciative of the people who supported Change Into Change during the developmental process. I sincerely thank:
Ms. Farrah N. Khan, the mayor of Irvine, encouraged me as she listened to my product introduction in person and expressed great interest. She purchased the Save The Endangered Plants Series shirt collection and awarded me the Nonprofit Service Award.
Ms. Sandrine Cassidy, Irvine's senior sustainable development consultant, carefully guided me on how to save water and electricity by using more environmentally friendly daily necessities, like recycled printing paper and toilet paper. She guided me step by step to obtain the green enterprise certification of the Irvine City Government for Change Into Change. I’m honored to own the first and only certified green enterprise run by high school students in Irvine.
Ms. Susan Winterhoff, Volunteer Manager/GSM of Discovery Cube OC, for her patience and dedication. After rounds of interviews and PPT presentations, my project, “From Plastic Bottles to T-shirts: Using Creativity to Benefit our Environment' will be grandly launched at Discovery Cube OC as an independent interactive display project. I am excited to be able to interact with hundreds of children to teach them to turn waste into innovations and grant them a hands-on experience.
Mr. Yang from Irvine Blue Sky Art School, not only taught me painting skills, but also affirmed my creativity and environmental protection concept, and more enthusiastically supported my public welfare undertakings. With his support, we are launching the third collection: Technology and Outer Space
Daniel Langhorne, who promoted Change Into Change extensively on Sage Hill School’s Instagram and featured an article on Sage Hill’s website. He allowed more students to get to know our organization.
I am even more grateful to our team members, whose active participation in this organization, whether through social media promotions or drawing the designs for the patches, helped Change Into Change’s impact: Luke W, Aavni P, Tony T, Cailyn W, Christine I, Emily S, Lucas Z, Kevin H, Jennifer H, Isaac L, Jianing (Jenny) L, Kayla C, Carisa K, Bruce L, Sonali T, Xin Yu (Simona) Y, Xinyao (Sarah) H, etc. I hope our team will grow stronger, and we welcome more friends to join the Change Into Change family.
